A delegation from Solomon Islands’ Ministry of Agriculture is in Fiji to explore opportunities between the two countries.

Solomon Islands Agriculture permanent secretary Mr Jimi Saelea met with his Fijian counterpart Mr Jitendra Singh to look at potential opportunities between the two countries in the agriculture and livestock sector.

Discussions between the two governments include possible export of cattle, sheep and goats to Solomon Islands to revive their livestock industry.

Following the completion of their scoping mission, Fiji will await word from Solomon Islands to chart a way forward.

Fiji has previously assisted in the development of the sheep industry in Samoa and Tonga.
