Most squatter settlements are located in the greater Suva area, and plans for relocation will be finalised after the review of the Squatter Upgrading program.

Minister for Hon. Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment, Infrastructure & Transport said that the plan for the Squatter Upgrading program is under review by the Ministerial Committee.

After the review, relocation plans for squatter settlements in the Central Division will be considered.

Hon.Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport, Mr.Praveen Kumar said residential leases have been issued through the program.

They are enabled access to 99 years of residential land lease with full residential laws.

3698 families across Fiji that have been assisted in the Squatter Housing program.

Mr. Kumar said that due to the neglect of past governments, there were 220 squatter settlements across the nation.
