Bainimarama, Rabuka top choice for PM
The 2018 General Elections looks to be a two-horse race with the leaders of the major political parties favourite for Fiji’s top job.
PM Voreqe Bainimarama was the top choice, polling at 53% and SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka second at 23%. Both leaders had an equal support amongst men and women.
National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad polled at 5%, and Opposition leader Ro Teimumu Kepa at 4%.
Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhary both polled at 1% each.
Interestingly, 12% of respondents rejected all of the current frontrunners, choosing the option “Someone Else”.
The survey was conducted via Newswire Messenger and attracted 2876 responses. A computer program was used to extract a sample based on Fiji’s 2007 census data.
