Three men have been charged and appeared in court in relation to an alleged rape case that occurred in Suva last month.

The three accused are:

  • Ramanjit Singh
  • Rajneel Prasad and
  • Dheeraj Nitesh Naidu

The alleged offence happened in Suva on December 19.  The victim is a 33-year-old woman.

Prasad and Naidu are believed to be civil servants working in the same Ministry as the victim.  Singh is a taxi driver.

Singh and Prasad are charged with one count of rape, and appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne last Saturday.

Naidu is charged with two counts of indecent assault, and appeared before Magistrate Somaratne yesterday.  Police say he was on the run before being apprehended two days ago.

All three are remanded in custody and will reappear in court tomorrow.
