The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions today released rape and sexual offences statistics for November 2016.

There were 13 people charged with 27 separate incidents in November. The offences were rape (22), attempted rape (1) and sexual assault (4).

There was one person charged under the age of 18 years. There were 13 victims of the 27 separate incidents. There were 8 victims of serious sexual offences under the age of 18 years.

There were 4 sexual offences that occurred where the victims were related to the accused person.

There were 3 matters withdrawn after discontinuances (Nolle Prosequi) were filed. Of the 3, one was discontinued due to a false complaint by the victim, and two were discontinued after the deaths of the accused.
