Members of the public are advised against dealing and exchanging money with people who call them with the promise of securing taxi permits.

Police believe some individuals are impersonating senior LTA officials and implying  that a taxi permit could be secured if money is deposited directly to an account.

Three such cases were reported to the Criminal Investigations Department and a few others within the Nasinu district.

According to police spokesperson Ana Naisoro, some victims have paid up to $3,000 only to find out it was a scam.

NAISORO: “As investigations are ongoing we are advising members of the public to follow the proper channels and liaise only with the Land Transport Authority regarding such matters.”
