More men taken to task in recent robbery cases
Ten men have been charged in separate cases over the past few day.
Three men alleged to have been involved in two separate aggravated robbery cases will be produced in a special sitting of the Suva Magistrates Court.
The first is an accused who is charged with having taken part in the Lotus Exchange robbery. He has been charged with one count of aggravated robbery for his alleged involvement in the incident whereby a safe containing $60,000 was stolen.
In a separate case, two men will be produced for allegedly robbing Poly Products whereby they took $4000 cash and a mobile phone.
Meanwhile, a man had appeared at the Suva Magistrates Court last Friday charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery for robbing a senior executive of Rajendra Supermarket and stole cash and assorted jewellery. An estimated $3000 worth of jewellery was recovered.
Seven men charged over recent robbery cases
December 23 – Seven men will be produced at the Nadi Magistrates Court this afternoon charged in separate cases of robberies in the past few weeks.
One accused is believed to be involved in the Nalovo Service Station robbery a few weeks ago and has been charged with one count of aggravated burglary.
Four men were accused of a robbery at a supermarket in Wailoaloa, Nadi on Monday. The accused have been charged with robbery with violence.
In another case, two men will be produced in court accused of aggravated robbery and theft of stealing a generator which was later recovered.
The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said his officers would be working throughout the long weekend, “to provide every Fijian with the chance to enjoy Christmas without major incidents.”
