A man appeared before the Nasinu Magistrate High court this afternoon for one count of ‘manslaughter’ contrary to Section 198 and 201 of the Penal Code and an alternative count of ‘dangerous driving occasioning death’ contrary to Section 97 and 114 of the Land Transport Act 1998.

Arvind Chand appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza.

The matter was for “first call” today.

Chand is alleged to have caused the death of Nacanieli Koroi in 2006 by an unlawful act or omission being the driver of a motor vehicle.

Chand has been granted bail on strict bail conditions.

The matter has been transferred to the Suva High Court for plea on 3rd June 2016.
