A man charged with one count of murder contrary to section 237 of the Crimes Decree 2009 appeared  at the Lautoka High Court yesterday.

Nazim Ali appeared before Justice Aruna Aluthge.

The accused is alleged to murder his defacto partner, Susana Vakaloloma, earlier this month in the Western Division.

The matter was for First Call.

The State has requested time to file the Information and Disclosures.

The defence made a bail application and the State has been given time to respond to the same.

The matter has been adjourned to 9 June 2016.

The accused has been further remanded in custody.

A 32-year-old man who is alleged to have killed his 26-year-old defacto wife in Yalalevu, Ba appeared in the Ba Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Nazeem Ali who was charged with one count of ‘Murder’ appeared before Magistrate Mosese Naivalu.

Magistrate Naivalu transferred the case to the Lautoka High Court.

The case will be called on the 27th of May 2016.

The accused has been remanded in custody.

 

The 32-year-old man who is alleged to have killed his wife in Yalalevu, Ba, is now being interviewed at the Ba Police Station.

Police Director for CID Kishore Kumar said the man was released from the Ba Mission Hospital yesterday.

KUMAR: “The man was released from the hospital yesterday evening and now he has been taken in for an interview. He’s still in police custody and the burns on his body are not too serious.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victims post-moterm has been conducted.
NAISORO: “The post-mortem examination of the victim has been conducted, however, the results will not be made public.”

A 32-year-old man of Yalalevu in Ba is in police custody at the Ba Mission Hospital after he allegedly murdered his defacto partner.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said that the incident is alleged to have occurred sometime between last Saturday and Tuesday following a domestic dispute.

NAISORO: “The incident was reported to Police by a friend of the suspect who he had allegedly asked to help dispose of the victim’s remains. The suspect sustained burns when he was allegedly trying to burn the victim’s body.”

Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations ACP Luke Navela said Police were alerted yesterday and were able to find the body in a garbage bag.

NAVELA: “The Police are conducting the investigations in regards to this murder and the suspect is now in Police custody as we speak right now and we are just waiting for him to be released, he got a little bit of burns on his body. We are waiting for his release and we will continue our investigations.”

ACP Navela said the suspect is under Police guard at the Ba Mission Hospital.

NAVELA: “The suspect actually informed his friends to go and bury the body and that friend who then came down to the Ba Police Station and reported that conversation and Police went back to the house and saw the body in the garbage bag.”

ACP Navela said the body has been taken to the Ba Hospital.
