A 34-year-old farmer of Wairiki in Taveuni has been charged for allegedly bribing a police officer.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the accused is alleged to have bribed a police officer with fifty dollars.

NAISORO: “The accused is alleged to have bribed a police officer based at the Taveuni Police Station with $50.00 to release a suspect from the cell.”

Naisoro said the accused has been charged with one count of “Bribery”.

“This incident is alleged to have occurred on Saturday morning.”

The accused will be produced at the Labasa Magistrates Court today.
