The body of a 35-year-old man was found floating in the Benai Creek in Ba yesterday afternoon.

The victim was found by an 18-year-old student who was on her way to visit a friend at about 4.30pm.

A post-mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death as investigations continue.

Fire destroys homes

A three bedroom home belonging to a 40-year-old manager was completely destroyed in a fire yesterday afternoon.

The home is located at Wailoko Settlement Sabeto and the cause of fire is not known as we await the outcomes of the investigations by the National Fire Authority.

Estimate cause of damage is $20,000.

In a separate incident, a building belonging to a 53-year-old businessman of Fasa Avenue was destroyed in a fire shortly after midnight.

The fire is believed to have started from a flat whereby a woman was cooking sweets however the cause will be confirmed by the NFA.

Robbery suspect charged

The suspect who is alleged to have robbed a 21-year-old student in Sakoca early this month has been charged.

The accused who is in his 20s has been charged with one count of robbery and will be produced at the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.

He had sustained injuries whilst trying to flee from the alleged scene of the crime.
