Koya told members present at the  Lautoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Annual General Meeting and Business Forum said his ministry was in a strong position to surpass the 714,000 visitors who came to Fiji in 2015.

Koya said his ministry is on the verge of finalizing the draft Fijian Tourism Development Plan and he hoped to be able to take the draft plan to industry players in the first quarter of this year.

The minister said the plan amongst other key areas identified measures which need to be put in place in towns and centres to attract more visitors.

He highlighted that 85 per cent of the total numbers of visitors are concentrated in Nadi and specific attractions need to be developed in other regions to attract them there.

Koya also highlighted some of the initiatives put in place by Government for investors to take advantage of and the need for the private sector to drive economic growth.
