Samsung has recalled its newest release the Galaxy Note 7 due to some product safety issues.

A statement released by Vodafone today said:

The defect as per Samsung’s advice is related to the battery cell and not the device itself. No defective device has been found in the Fiji market.

However, in the interest of consumer safety, Samsung has offered to recall all Samsung Note 7 devices sold in the market so far.

Vodafone Fiji had only recently released the product in the Fiji market so very limited numbers have been sold so far. Based on Samsung’s advice, we have taken the decision to halt the sale of this device until all clear has been given by Samsung.

To all customers who may have purchased Note 7, Vodafone will provide a refund or replacement Samsung device of the equivalent value selected by customers. This has been agreed with Samsung for our Fijian consumers. We are liaising with Samsung to facilitate this for our affected customers.
