After last week’s decision to remove roaming rates for Prepay customers, Digicel Fiji yesterday announced major boosts for Postpaid Business customers with the introduction of the Digicel Roaming Passport.
This means that all Digicel Postpaid customers can now opt into a Roaming Passport before or after arrival for just FJD$15 per day. The Roaming Passport is the second major roaming announcement from Digicel in the last week and offers a large daily bundle for both Postpay and Prepay customers in 7 destinations.
Digicel Fiji Chief Executive Officer, Mr Darren McLean said Digicel’s business customers had been inquiring about the launch of the recent service.
McLEAN: “Our business customers have been inquiring after last week’s launch of our ‘Roam Like You’re Home’ campaign and from today we are happy to extend the concept to Postpay. Many of our Fiji customers will now save thousands of dollars a year on calling and data charges while roaming.”
“This plan will give flexibility to our customers whether travelling for business or pleasure to run their business easily while travelling and not to worry about swapping sims and getting surprise bills when they return home. Our customers now have the benefit of 24/7 access to their company emails and can stay connected on their mobiles with their staff and family for just FJD$15 per day. I encourage every business in Fiji that travels frequently in the Pacific, Australia or New Zealand to try Digicel and see the savings for yourselves.”
Speaking in support of the initial service launched by Digicel, Consumer Council CEO, Premila Kumar deemed it a big breakthrough stating that “Digicel’s new ‘Roam like You’re Home’ service is commendable because Fijian consumers will not go through bill shock now that communication with colleagues, friends and relatives will be cheaper.
With the new service customers can expect 100 minutes of calling, 100 text messages and 100Mb of data to Postpaid customers roaming in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu and Nauru. Services were activated yesterday.
Meanwhile,in addition to the value being offered by the Roaming Passport, out of bundle rates have also been reduced substantially with rates now $1 per minute to call back or to receive calls while roaming in the 7 destinations, 50c to send an SMS, and $1 per MB. These new rates and the Roaming Passport apply when roaming on any network in NZ and Australia, and on Digicel networks in the Pacific.
