Minister of Health and Medical Services Hon. Jone Usamate said this at the opening of the new retail center at the CWM Hospital this afternoon.

USAMATE: “The Fijian Government recognizes the vast benefits that can be achieved from partnership with NGO’s, donors and partners in health. Unity in our efforts will allow us to widen our capacity to meet the unmet needs of the people.”

The new facility accommodates a restaurant, flower shop, and a grocery shop.

USAMATE: “We must realize that the care and support of patients will need the totality of approach. We can design the hospital environment to their convenience and comfort and this project is a prime illustration of that.”

Minister Usamate also said that the increase of Doctors salary is expected to come into effect within the next two months.

USAMATE: “We are hoping that Doctors will get an increase in salary around August or September. The Ministry of Civil Services is under taking that and they will be able to give more details so that we can attract more doctors and even keep them in our system.”

The CWMH Board of Visitors Chairperson Mr Bimlesh Prasad said that their vision is to continue to improve and provide the best medical care in the region.
