Fiji Television Limited (FijiTV) has announced that permission has been secured to broadcast the first round of matches from the 2016 Super Rugby season on its pay TV platform, Sky Pacific.

In a statement released a short while ago, FijiTV said their subscribers would be able to watch nine games this weekend.

FijiTV Chief Executive Officer Geoffrey Smith said this initial arrangement was with Super Rugby rights holders, Digicel Media Ventures.

The decision to air the first round of matches has been reached as a sign of good faith after a long negotiation.

The first round of Super Rugby sees the Blues up against the Highlanders at 6.30pm tonight, followed by the Brumbies vs. Hurricanes clash at 8.40pm.
