Digicel Fiji has put on hold changes to Sky Pacific’s programming after the Communications Ministry pointed out Digicel did not have a licence to operate television services in Fiji.

In a statement released last night, Digicel said Sky Pacific operations will continue as normal through Fiji Television hence there will be no programming changes until further notice. The company added they are currently seeking clarification from relevant authorities regarding the final approvals.

Digicel Fiji CEO, Darren McLean, had earlier advised of changes starting today to Sky Pacific’s programming schedules.

Two news channels, TVWAN and TVWAN Sports would have been added, while Fiji One would have been removed.  TVWAN is a PNG-based network owned by Digicel Pacific.

Also last night, Communications Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had cautioned Digicel not to make public statements on Sky Pacific until his ministry had processed their licence application.
