The Consumer Council of Fiji has called for details on implications for consumers after Digicel Fiji’s buyout of Sky Pacific.

Council CEO Premila Kumar is concerned there is very little detailed and important information being relayed or made transparent to consumers.

In a statement released today, the Council wants clarification on:

  • Bill payments and lodgment of complaints.
  • Changes to the Sky Pacific set-top box and decoder.
  • Changed to cost of services.

Mrs Kumar said:

It is important to note that consumers signed to Sky Pacific on the basis of the provider’s marketing and advertising of a package of channels.  Any changes must be made clear to these consumers.

Mrs Kumar added some consumers living in isolated rural areas and islanders outside the reach of the free-to-air channels will lose out on the Fiji One channel which will no longer run on Sky Pacific fro today.
