Westpac and Vodafone have pledged their continued and combined support of the Fiji Institute of Accountants’ Congress at a press conference today, announcing a cash sponsorship of $250,000 for the next three years.
During the sponsorship announcement, both Westpac and Vodafone expressed the importance of the two-day forum to the accounting profession and the nation.
“Westpac has been supporting the FIA Congress for the past 12 years – and we’re proud to have committed to doing so as one of the major co-sponsors for another three years,” said Westpac Fiji General Manager, Brett Hooker.
“This year’s Congress will once again host a number of high profile speakers who will give delegates important global and commercial insights”.
“Westpac is committed to working with organisations like FIA to build a brighter economic future for Fiji, and to helping our customers prosper and reach their financial aspirations. On behalf of the entire Westpac Fiji team, I wish the FIA and all delegates all the very best for a successful congress,” Mr. Hooker said.
His sentiments were echoed by Ronald Prasad, Vodafone’s Chief Commercial Officer.
“Vodafone Fiji has been a committed partner and supporter of the FIA for many years. We are once again pleased to join hands with Westpac as major co-sponsors for the FIA Congresses 2016-2018. We not only sponsor the FIA Congress, but other key premier business events in Fiji with Westpac.
We do this to ensure that we actively contribute, both financially and otherwise to bring together various stakeholders for greater awareness, learning, networking and most of all capacity building,” Mr. Prasad said.
“The total value of sponsorship for FIA Congress 2016-2018 is $250,000 and this is a testament of both Vodafone and Westpac’s commitment to the business sector in Fiji. The FIA Congress is a premier business event that is attended by a wide cross section of the business community in Fiji and is a great place to learn about key developments, challenges facing the industry and areas of interest within the financial and greater business sector. The FIA carefully selects topics of interest and speakers to deliver value to its members and other delegates.”
Mr. Prasad thanked the President of FIA, Nouzab Fareed, partners Brett Hooker and the team at Westpac, FIA Council members and Secretariat for a job well done and said that Vodafone looked forward to fostering the relationship and continuing to play a significant part in the development of Fiji and its people.”
Institute President, Nouzab Fareed said the welcome support from such giants of the country’s business community was vital in the delivery of a successful congress and the caliber of this year’s speakers only served to underline the importance of the event.
With the theme “Towards a Brighter Fiji” the annual Congress, which is expected to attract more than 400 delegates including many of Fiji’s top private and public sector decision-makers, will be held at the Sheraton Fiji Resort and Spa on April 21st and 22nd.
